Bristol Half Marathon Training.

All summer I've been training for the Bristol Half Marathon, which takes place on September 15th.

I'm raising money for a fabulous charity called Beat, which helps people and their families who are affected by eating disorders. The money I hope to raise will therefore go towards enabling Beat to run vital support services to help people beat their eating disorders. This charity means a lot to me and I would be sooooo grateful if people could get involved in the smallest way possible (to make all those early morning runs worthwhile!).

Please check out my fundraising page for more info:

Me being pleased with myself in a slightly horrible geeky way for just a nano second and then I'll stop I promise.

I got a first in philosophy. And a 2:1 in English. And FUCK OFF I got 80 per cent in logic.

I clearly didn't spend enough of first year drunk.

That's all I'm saying on the matter.

.

Hair-spiration.

Today I'm getting inspiration for my next hair move, that I shall be making at the end of summer.

I went brunette for winter:

And then I bleached it for summer because bleached blonde hair is a summer essential:

(This was really quite traumatic. I'm a poor student and so obvs I bleached it at home. The first attempt went GINGER. Actually not even ginger. A sort of orange colour. Not the desired effect, truth be told. I spent all night bleaching my hair but I still had to venture out the next day with weird yellow hair. I was going to the Bowie Is exhibition so I just painted my lips purple and wore some very old tartan trousers and embraced punk in homage to Bowie's best 70's looks.

Side note: The exhibition is FAB. Because I was desperateeeee to go but didn't get my act together in time to get hold of a ticket I became a member of the V&A just so I could go and it's totally worth it.)

And next I want to go white/lilac. Does that make sense?? Almost a sort of blue rinse, but without the set and winter fuel allowance.

And then I remembered how fab Mary Kate and Ashley were in the 90s days:

Which got me super duper excited for my 90s themed party I'm going to have for my 20th birthday in the house in Bristol eeek!!!

And 90s Gwen is just too amazing to miss out on:

Hope everyone is having a happy hair day!

Showy Off Geek Returns.

I'm back, being a showy off geek. YAY I can hear your eyeballs rolling, humour me people.

I got various essays back and I got pretty solid 2:1 in all of them and I was reeeeally close to getting a first in my Hume essay (which I did go mental about so that's nice. Hume became my best friend for quite a long period of time and it was only when everyone else started asking me about Hume as though he were a dear relation of mine that I decided I needed to re-evaluate my life because, much as I love Hume and everything, spending so long with him that friends check up on 'the two of you' (genuine quote) is too far). I did less well in my Approaches to Poetry exam which was, all in all, a hellish experience for which I was totally not prepared and I nearly vommed on the way in to. I passed, but we'll say no more about it.

I'm currently writing an essay asking 'Is moral judgement "a kind of coinage valid only in its country of origin"?'
It's quite interesting and I should probably get on with it.

It's really annoying me that I can't resize my pictures on here. Waa it makes it look ugly I know I know don't judge, look beyond appearances people.

Bristol Winter Wonderland

Bristol in the snow is beautiful. We went for a lovely walk and had a snowball fight and although we didn't go up to the Downs, we did go to Brandon Hill Park (where that scene in Skins is filmed. Ya know, the one where you can see the whole of Bristol from that bench in the top of that hill. Interesting fact of the day for you there). The uni winter sports soc was there and they put on a spontaneous ski and snowboard display. They were really good and did lots of very impressive jumps and flips and we all went ooh and ahh. We watched for ages but then my hands got cold and we all headed home for tea and hot chocolate and a mini hottie bottie (that's a hot water bottle obvii) for hands that I got in my stocking. Pretty top, all in all.
